Whilst traveling Japan you’ll have times where you’ll need to travel on local metros/subways which aren’t Japan Railways lines. It’s best to equip yourself with a Suica IC travel card (Which is like the Opal/Myki/GO/SmartRider/MyWay etc) and you can simply tap the card on a card reader as you enter and exit different stations.
The card comes with ¥1,500 Credit and you can recharge in Japan as you go.
The Suica can be used not only for transportation but for shopping as well.You can use your Suica to make purchases onboard trains as well as from vending machines, to rent coin lockers and for spending at convenience stores and restaurants.
