If you are looking for a horror-themed dining experience, The Lockup (located in Tokyo, Kyoto, Kobe, Osaka and other major Japanese cities) features staff in police costumes who arrest and handcuff you upon entering and take you to your table, which is located inside a prison cell.
Their menu includes a variety of cuisines that may be served with eyeballs, in test tubes or with other macabre aspects to them, and drinks cost around 700 to 800 yen.
It is a three-minute walk from Shinjuku Station.
Alice’s Fantasy
An Alice in Wonderland themed restaurant, Alice’s Fantasy has six branches in Tokyo. The tables are shaped like tea cups, and the ambience is created with beautiful lamps and lights. There are banners, framed card decks, photos of characters on the walls, and the waitresses are all dressed as Alice.
Food options available include non-alcoholic Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum cocktails, pizza shaped like Cheshire Cat’s tail, sushi rolls that look like the Caterpillar, and several desserts. Cost per person is around 2,000 yen.

Alcatraz ER
Another variation of the horror theme is available at Alcatraz ER, which has the gore, gruesomeness and oddity craved by fans of the horror and terror genre.
The waitresses are dressed as nurses, and they lead you to your cells where you wait for your orders. Expect drinks served in syringes or bloody severed heads. While eating, you will be treated to a short show, which may or may not include an axe-wielding clown.
